CHAMBER CALLS FOR QUESTIONS IN ADVANCE OF ALL-CANDIDATES DEBATE

The Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce is presenting a Nanaimo By-election All Candidates Meeting & Debate on Tuesday, June 27, starting at 6 pm at Beban Park Social Centre. All 13 civic candidates will be invited to attend and participate. All members of the public are invited and there is no admission charge.

Candidates will have tables in Beban Social Centre where they can receive visitors from 6 –  7 pm. The debate will begin at 7 pm and will be moderated by Dr. Carrie Chassels of Vancouver Island University. The format of the debate will be designed in the weeks to come to provide fair and equitable exposure for all candidates.

Questions are invited in advance through the Chamber’s email address info@nanaimochamber.bc.ca. Questions will also be taken from the floor and vetted through scrutineers.

“The Chamber’s role as a non-partisan community organization is to focus on getting out the vote by promoting top-of-mind awareness around the candidates and issues, communicating updates on local informational events, and organizing this widely-anticipated, independent All Candidates Meeting” stated Kim Smythe, Chamber CEO & President.
