Community Impact Committee (CIC)
The purpose of the Committee is to create a network of support to overcome challenges by creating a united front: funding ideas, support, coaching, strategic support, and community partnerships. The purpose of this Committee is to create ideas, support, and bridge gaps where needed within the NCIC community. The Chamber will provide human resources to support and drive initiatives that come from this Committee.

Policy, Advocacy & Government Affairs Committee
The Purpose of the Policy, Advocacy & Government Affairs Committee is to provide recommendations to the Nanaimo Chamber Board of Directors (the “Board”) and CEO on policies through the BC and Canadian Chamber, and other senior levels of government.
The Committee will raise advocacy issues at local, regional, and national levels, and
recommend the Chamber’s position to relay to senior levels of government on approval by
the board
The objectives of the Committee are to:
- Monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy developments affecting businesses and
- the economy.
- Prepare draft policy recommendations, including appropriate background to
- facilitate an informed debate, for approval by the board.
- Advocate for policies that enhance the business environment and economic
- competitiveness of our local economy.
- Develop position statements on key issues relevant to Chamber members.
- Serve as a platform for members to share concerns and suggest policy priorities.
- Help build relationships with policymakers, government agencies, and
- stakeholders.
