Corry Gervais

CEO

For nearly two decades Corry Gervais has built her roots as a business leader in Nanaimo.  Through a shared vision and passion for community and results, she has worked with 100’s of businesses, leaders of government, organizations, media, and key business associations locally, regionally, and provincially to improve the business landscape.  Corry is the former President of the Business Improvement Association of British Columbia and has served on various committees and Boards related to economic prosperity.  Corry has held management and leadership roles in downtown revitalization, economic development, destination marketing, and event planning.  Corry believes that leading an organization such as the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce, which is deeply rooted in community, is an honour, and inspired everyday by her love of Nanaimo.

Roberta Bowman

Director of Operations

Roberta joined the Chamber team in February 2021. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in English. Roberta brings with her extensive Chamber experience, having worked as the ED of the Prince Rupert & District Chamber of Commerce & The West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, as well as Events Manger of the Surrey Board of Trade.

Aurora Zuraw

Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Aurora Zuraw graduated from McMaster University in 2020 with honors in Communications Studies and a minor in Sociology, then attended Mohawk College for the Public Relations post-graduate certificate. Upon graduating from her bachelor’s degree amidst a global pandemic, she recognized the shift that was awaiting us as we began to transition toward a digital world. First joining the Chamber part time in 2022 as a Night market Coordinator she was then hired on permanently in October 2022 focusing on social media management, social marketing, promotions and communications.

Rick Nelson

Events Coordinator

Rick joins the Chamber with an extensive background in event planning and coordination. Before coming to Nanaimo in 1996, he worked with the minor hockey program in his hometown of Kamloops, as well as several independent businesses organizing fund raising events.

While in Nanaimo, Rick continued working in events while exploring the world of finance before joining the Nanaimo Clippers in 2019, then the Coquitlam Express in 2021 as their Marketing and Events Manager.

Rick returned to Nanaimo in 2022 to work with the Nanaimo Buccaneers before becoming a member of the Chamber staff in March of 2023.

Cathy Dyck

Member Services

Cathy was born and raised in Nanaimo. She completed the business program at VIU  and  has worked in the field of Sales & Marketing for most of her career.  Cathy has been involved in many boards and committees in Nanaimo and believes in giving back to the community that she lives in.Cathy joined the Nanaimo Chamber in March 2023 and looks forward to working with the business community in Nanaimo.
